
What We Cannot Accept
Knowing what to leave behind saves you a wasted trip. If you're unsure about your load — call us first.
The following materials are prohibited from acceptance at CAC Metal Recycling. If you have questions about your materials, please don't hesitate to contact us before you come.
Non-Recyclable Materials
- •Asphalt
- •Concrete
- •Debris
- •Dirt
- •Plastics
- •Trash
- •Wood waste
- •Garbage
- •Glass
- •Rubber
- •Any other non-metallic materials
Loads with mixed non-metal materials (e.g. tires, wooden pallets) may be accepted, but their weight will be deducted from the load and dumping fees may apply.
Hazardous Liquids
- •Gasoline & diesel fuel
- •Motor oil
- •Hydraulic fluids
- •Anti-freeze
- •Pesticides
- •Oil
- •Paint
- •PCB oils or containing items (ballasts, transformers, fluorescent lighting, capacitors)
All fluids must be drained before materials arrive at our yard. Disposal fees may apply for exceptions.
Radioactive & Hazardous Materials
- •Military scrap
- •Medical scrap
- •Flammable or combustible materials of any kind
- •Non-hazardous liquids (including water)
- •Chemicals or poisons (solid, powder, liquid, or gas — e.g. fertilizers)
- •Ammunition or explosives (unless management approval in place)
- •Asbestos or asbestos-containing materials (insulation from pipes, wiring, tanks, gaskets, siding)
- •Mercury-containing lights or related fixtures
No exceptions. These materials require specialized disposal channels.
Compressed Cylinders
- •Compressed cylinders not open to atmosphere and not verified safe MUST be rejected per Compressed Cylinder Policy
- •Compressed-fuel automobiles — any vehicle with attached compressed fuel systems (propane or natural gas) must have systems decommissioned & confirmed empty
- •Paint inside cans or spray cans
Updated Compressed Cylinder Policy applies to all incoming loads.
